4 Victims Shot at Howe Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Results in Shooting





On Saturday evening, an unlawful gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento ended in a shooting when upwards of 20 gunshots were discharged as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were in the process of clearing the area.

What Happened

At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County law enforcement got reports concerning persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at the park. An additional caller reported a possible altercation and individuals running from the park.

Air support was deployed and searched the park but was unable to locate any active disturbance.

At the same time, an estimated several hundred attendees had come together at Howe Community Park for what deputies referred to as an unlawful gathering. Law enforcement personnel formed a perimeter around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out using public address systems.

While deputies were dispersing the crowd, upwards of 20 gunshots filled the night air — causing hundreds to flee in every direction.

Those Injured

Four gunshot victims — a woman and three men, each in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, and one victim sustained minor injuries. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire provided medical assistance in the field.

The Investigation Scene

Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way corridor side of the park near the Home Depot at the get more info 2200 block. The Home Depot store was placed under temporary lockdown.
